The dedication ceremony of the Gordon Prince memorial kissing gate will be on Wednesday 7 November 2018.
See the walk programme section for basic details.
The kissing gate was ordered through Surrey County Council and installed by Guildford Ramblers.
Details of the location are here (on the left side of web page): http://tiny.cc/gordonprince
The kissing gate will be on the same path as the Len Hands memorial gate.
The site is a 20-minute walk from Wanborough Station.
Those who want to attend just the ceremony can walk back to the station.
After the ceremony, the main party will walk to the White Hart, Wood Street Village for lunch at around 12:45.
This will give the pub an idea of numbers and reduce time waiting to be served.
The pub menus are at: https://thewhitehartpub.com/food-drink/
Picnickers can lunch on the Green.
After lunch, we will walk to Guildford. If it rains heavily before the day, sections will be muddy so poles are recommended.
Travel arrangements by car in detail:
Parking can be at Wanborough Station, GU3 2BF or in Glaziers Lane, GU3 2DF, near the eastern end of the footpath. If you want to bring someone who is less mobile, you can park your car on the wide verge near the western end of the footpath, near the entrance to Peakmead Farm, Westwood Lane, GU3 2JE (SU 9233 5067).
Peakmead Farm is not obvious: it has high chipboard gates photographed here: https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4039262 The farm gate will probably be locked; there is a stile to negotiate but the walk from there to the new kissing gate takes only four minutes.
Motorists should aim to be at the new gate by 11:25 a.m. Lunch is in Wood Street Village (postcode GU3 3DZ).
